Just because it’s finished, it doesn’t mean it’s over.
While for most cases, sentencing is the final step in the criminal process, there are always other avenues to consider. Are you bound by a sentencing order stopping you from using the Internet, but now need a computer for your job? Does a criminal record check still show a weapons prohibition despite having your record cleared (suspended/pardoned)? Or, worse yet, are you convicted of something that you did not do?
The Canadian justice system offers multiple pathways for justice, even after you have been sentenced. These include applications to vary your Court-ordered terms (s. 161 orders, weapons prohibitions, conditional sentence orders, probation orders), and appeals (all the way up to the Supreme Court of Canada).

Straightforward, Honest Advice
Appeals are uphill battles. At your initial consultation with us, we’ll sit down, and spend the time discussing the legal avenues and plans of attack available to you. We will go through your concerns at the trial, things you wished were done differently in Court, or by your lawyer.
At the same time, we’ll be honest with you about the chances of winning. We are not afraid of challenging battles, but will tell you the truth if the appeal is trying to deal with something that is already settled law, or not an error at all. We won’t string you along.
A note: we almost never take ineffective assistance of counsel appeals related to trial counsel in the London region.
