LAKIN AFOLABI
With over a decade and a half of experience defending thousands of charges, I understand what’s at stake when you’re accused of a crime: your freedom, your job, and your reputation. When you retain my services, you gain peace of mind knowing you have a lawyer who has litigated over 20 jury trials to verdict and hundreds of other hearings and trials. You benefit from a brilliant team of hardworking associates, the confidence that comes with my name and reputation, and numerous recommendations from satisfied clients whose lives have been restored. But what truly sets us apart, and what offers you the most value, is our human approach to law.
What does this mean? It means I listen to you, strategize with you, and then defend you. We know the law, but you know the facts and what you need from this representation. Criminal defense is a human endeavor—something often forgotten in a fast-paced, disconnected world. We make it a point to be accessible, responsive, and available to you.
We understand that while the legal process is familiar to us, it can be foreign, intimidating, and terrifying for you. Our goal is to make this as easy as possible for you.

Your freedom matters, and I’m here to fight for it.
Being charged with a crime can feel overwhelming, especially when your freedom is on the line. My job is to take some of that weight off your shoulders and stand beside you every step of the way.
I start by focusing on your release. You can’t defend yourself properly if you’re sitting in jail or dealing with unfair bail conditions. I act fast to prepare for your bail hearing, speak with the Crown, and help find the right sureties. If you’re already out on bail or an undertaking, I work to get conditions changed so they don’t disrupt your job, family, or daily life.
Next, I move your case forward without delay. That means reviewing your disclosure quickly, pushing to set court dates, and keeping the pressure on. I know how stressful it is to have criminal charges hanging over your head. My goal is to resolve your case as quickly and effectively as possible.
I’m also committed to being accessible and clear. The legal process can feel confusing and even absurd at times. I’ll make sure you always know what’s happening with your case in straightforward language.
I speak both English and Tamil.
நான் தமிழும் பேசுவேன். எனக்கு தமிழில் உதவி செய்ய முடியும்.
Above all, I go the extra mile—whether it’s tracking down a surety, rushing across the city for urgent documents, or negotiating hard to keep you out of custody. I do what it takes to protect your freedom.
If you or someone you care about is facing charges, don’t wait. Call me today.

Many people who find themselves involved in the criminal justice system feel overwhelmed, unheard, and judged. Criminal charges often intersect with mental health challenges, financial hardship, or complex personal circumstances. I approach every case without judgment and with the belief that a person’s circumstances should never determine the quality of their defence or their ability to access justice.
I prioritize understanding not only the legal situation, but the individual behind it. Taking the time to fully understand your circumstances allows me to review disclosure carefully, engage in meaningful negotiations with the Crown, and, where necessary, advance a focused and strategic defence at trial. My goal is to achieve the best possible outcome for you—whether through negotiation, trial, or other legal avenues—while ensuring the court sees the full picture, not just the allegations. This also means I do not encourage clients to accept outcomes that are not justified. In one case, when the Crown sought to resolve an assault allegation by having my client enter into a peace bond, I pushed back after reviewing the evidence and maintained my client’s position that he had not committed the offence. Rather than advising him to accept conditions simply to put the matter to an end, I advocated firmly on his behalf, ultimately getting the charge withdrawn. In another matter, recognizing that my client was struggling with underlying mental health issues, I worked to ensure they were connected with appropriate supports and ultimately able to pursue a path through Adult Therapeutic Court and diversion, focusing on treatment and rehabilitation rather than punishment.
My approach is calm, direct, and compassionate, but I am also firm and unafraid to advocate strongly when it matters most. I work with you to ensure you understand the process and your options so you remain actively involved in your defence. When your rights are at stake, I will not hesitate to stand up and fight for them.
